Cleaning the Crusty Grim that the Kids Leave Behind!

Courtney This morning I was really stumped on what really is working for me these days! I felt like I was all tipped out, in my 28 years of life I couldn't think of one good tip!
I went about my day trying to think of a tip, hoping one would come to me in time for Works For Me Wednesday.
I think it might have actually happened! When I was cleaning up the kitchen I realized I was using one of my favorite things to help clean off the grimy little spots that a 2 year old likes to leave around!
Do you have one or more of these running around your kitchen?
Do you have one of these thing-a-ma Jig (I think the technical name is Pastry Scraper).

They can work hand and hand with each other quite well if you ask me! The one thing that seems to stick to my table within seconds of Avery eating is applesauce. It sticks and I use to use my nails to scrap the dang stuff off. Now my nails are never really painted or in wonderfully perfect condition but sticky applesauce scraping on my nails just screamed "MOMMY" if anyone looked closely. As much as I adore the title I would rather it be known for my smart, well behaved, perfect child (seriously she is, well maybe..) than the stuff all over me! One day as I was cursing the dang applesauce I grabbed the pastry scraper that I use all the time on the beautiful pastries and breads that I make (okay so that is a lie, and I felt I needed to get my 5 bucks out of the product). I used the scraper lightly on my table and VOILA, a perfectly clean table and no applesauce nails.
I started to use it all over the kitchen. I mean when I cook I am normally very clean, almost perfectly clean (maybe not so much) so it was very easy hard to find spots that were grimy!
So if you are blessed with a grim free kitchen ignore this tip but if not, give it a try one day, it will work wonders on those rough spots!!

Great idea! I have a scraper to use on our glass stovetop. I will now try putting it to use all over the kitchen.
I don't have a pastry scraper, but I use expired AAA cards and old insurance cards to do the same thing!
I have a pastry scraper that hardly ever gets used (only when I'm cutting cinnamon rolls). This is such a great idea!
I love mine. I've always called it a bench scrape, can't remember who I first heard call it that now. When I chop veggies I use my bench scrape to gather them up instead of the knife. Using the sharp edge is dangerous and bad for the blade. Great tip about the applesauce goo!
