Keeping up with the "Bloggers"!
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 8:43AM
Courtney I love to blog, I might not be the best writer or have tons of readers but I do it and enjoy it!! It makes me happy so really that is all that matter right?? You would think so but sometimes I get a little "keeping up with the Joneses" attitude. This is the one attitude in my daily life I am learning to let go of and remind myself everything we do have is a blessing and is more than enough! So why am I have an issue with it in the blogging world? I think the main problem is I wonder how on earth does everyone post so much and where does the time come from? I only have one child and blogging seems to take a few hours a morning for me. Some days are great and I can get ahead with a couple of post. Other days I get very very far behind, which turn into weeks of no blogging. I try very hard to avoid this but it just seems to happen once a quarter or so.
I have a plan now to "keep up with the bloggers" that hopefully will work for me!
My mother bought me this great little planner last week to keep up with my schedule. I love having a smart phone but just prefer to have my schedule down in writing. It probably has something to do with having a required planner during school. It just works for me. So I am taking one element that works well and adding a new little piece to it. I am going to start writing down each week what I want to post that day.

This new method works so well for me for so many reasons:
- I no longer sit down at the computer wondering what to post about
- If I have an idea when I am out and about, I can just write it down on a day that is open! I no longer forget ideas!
- Having it on my planner, makes me feel like I have to do it!
So hopefully in the future the long weeks of no blogging will be a thing of the past for me!! You would think starting my third year of blogging I would be a little more on the ball but hey its never to late to start!!

The only way I am able to keep up is because I work outside of the home, honestly. I blog in my downtime at work. (Shhhh, don't tell.) If I couldn't do that, there is NO WAY I could keep it up.
I'm excited to see more posts from you! :)
Great idea! Sometimes I am driving and get an idea and by the time I get back to my computer I have forgotten it. Now you will have it all written down!
So true! Or I usually turn to a video of my kids doing something goofy in a pinch. :-) So if you see one of those coming up, you know that I have writer's block!!
Sounds like a good system! Thanks for stopping by my blog ;)
Time is for sure a tough thing to have plenty of! Your planner is an excellent idea!
Great tip!!
I love it! I find that when I schedule out my blog topics, i enjoy blogging so much more. I keep a folder of blog post and article ideas near by, too. I find that sometimes lots of great ideas come to me, other times, not so much. I agree with you, if it's on my planner-I do it.
Great idea.As a mum of 6 I have a set time during the day where I can blog in peace. It's usually when my 1 year old is having a nap and my 5 year old is having quiet time drawing or playing with leggo.During this time I will catch up on the blogs I read, write a post and maybe some ideas down. It's my break from the housework, lol.
I have lists by the computer, I need to put them in my Household Binder. Thanks for inspiring me! And thanks for stopping by and checking out my Baking Day.

That is a great idea!! Cute blog btw :) I use a little notebook that I keep in my purse that I write ideas as they come into my mind... or cute/funny things the kids say so I don't forget. I need to be more better about writing these things down though!!
LOVE this idea!! I am such a list maker so this is right up my alley!
I loved your post and glad I found your blog. I too find myself trying to keep up with the blogging world and wondering how can I have a following that others have? Well you now have one more follower, I enjoy your blog and look forward to getting to know you through your posts.

Your calendar idea is great. I try to do something similar, but I also need to write what I am in the mood to write, not necessarily what is scheduled, so it can be a challenge. But anything to help keep me on track is good - I think I will try this. Thanks.
Great idea! I've been spending to much time blogging during the past months. Mainly because I over committed myself on reviews, and learned my lesson the hard way. Now, I'm hoping to blog when I have an idea, and not stick to a schedule necessarily. That way, hopefully it will keep it's place. I need to be better about writing those ideas down so I can get to them when I get to them!
