Toliets and Toddlers! Unclogging the easy way!

With Avery turning three we have ushered in the world of "I do its" on just about everything! While I totally love how independent she is, I also loathe some of the things she wants to do herself. One of those things being having full access to the bathroom.

B and I tell Avery that every time she goes to the bathroom she need mommy and daddy to help her, sometimes she listens, most of the time, she does not. On the times she does not you can pretty much guarantee that too much toilet paper is going to make it into the toilet.

Our house is 5 years old and the 5 years we have lived in it, our toilets have given us a ton of trouble. Anything extra that goes into the toilet is probably going to require a bit of plunging. It just has become a normal for us, although I beg to replace the dang things all the time.

This last time, the dang toilet didn't do anything with I tried to plunge. I can also promise you that I plunged the heck out of it (which is not a good thing to do 4 days after delivering a baby, just an FYI if you are thinking of doing the same time!!) The next step was unclogging it with the drain snake, that too was rejected by the toliet. I thought for sure after all my hard work and the pain I was in, I was going to have to call a plumber. This would not make B happy at all, so I looked for ways to avoid it.

I search and searched the internet and finally decided to try a tip on the net.  A little dish soap and some warm (not boiling water) seemed to work wonders for many. I thought why not give it a try, if it unclogs than I don't have to call a plumber, if it cracks the toilet, well than I get a new toilet, its seems like a win win situation, right?

Well after I squirted in 1/4 of my seventh generation dish soap waiting a bit, pouring warm water down and  plunging about 10 times, the water started to budge just a bit. I did it about three more times waiting a few hours between each time and amazingly the toilet was flushing like normal again! I was so freaking happy and couldn't believe that little ole me did it without any assistance from B!

So if you have a clog that isnt from a toy down the drain just this  try and it might just save you from the mess of taking the toliet apart or calling it a plumber, it might just work for you too!!

First of all you are nuts for doing this so soon after having a baby!

With that being said, this is so good to know! :)
Our toilets have a mind of their own, too...and our toddler is still in diapers!
This little tip will come in handy about this time next year!

Thanks for sharing!

When I read your title I laughed and just had to read the whole post! I have many little people in my home that cause clogs. I'm going to give this a try next time my hubby isn't home and I don't want to call the maintenance man. Thanks!

Don't you know that this is the best time to get the mortgage loans, which can make you dreams real.
